Karo Winter Casserole

A hearty winter casserole combining ground beef, vegetables, and pasta, topped with melted cheese for a satisfying, flavorful meal perfect for cold evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 12 oz. can tomatoes, drained
  • 1/2 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cups cooked shell macaroni or rice

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped green bell pepper in oil; drain excess fat.
  2. Add drained tomatoes, Karo syrup, salt, chili powder, and bay leaf to the meat mixture.
  3. Simmer the mixture for 15 minutes.
  4. Mix in half of the cooked shell macaroni or rice.
  5. Put the mixture into a casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
