Ingredients

  • 2 lb beef, chunked
  • 1 cup celery, cubed
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 1 large can (No. 2 1/2) tomatoes
  • 3 sliced onions
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 tbsp barley
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 3 or 4 potatoes

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef in sherry wine and French dressing if desired.
  2. Mix sugar, salt, and barley with the tomatoes.
  3. Combine the marinated beef, vegetables, tomato mixture, and remaining ingredients in a covered dish.
  4. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 5 hours until tender.
