Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/4 cup onion
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Triple Sec
  • 2 cans pork and beans (16 oz. each)
  • liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon slices and set aside.
  2. Drain all but 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet and sauté chopped onions in the butter and bacon drippings.
  4. Add brown sugar, chili sauce, garlic powder, ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Triple Sec, and salt to the skillet.
  5. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Add the pork and beans along with 12 crumbled pieces of bacon to the sauce and mix well.
  7. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
  8. Add liquid smoke to taste (use generously).
  9. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until beans are moist but not runny.
  10. Garnish with the remaining 4 pieces of crumbled bacon before serving.
