Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef or 1 lb lamb ⓘ
- 1 large onion, chopped ⓘ
- 6 garlic cloves, minced ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons finely minced fresh ginger ⓘ

- 1 teaspoon cumin ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper ⓘ
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas, thawed ⓘ
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed ⓘ
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce ⓘ
- 1/2 cup water ⓘ
- 1 cup chickpeas, canned, rinsed (ceci, garbanzos) ⓘ
Instructions
- Brown beef in a large skillet. Drain all but 2 tablespoons of fat. Add chopped.
- onions, garlic, ginger and salt to beef. Saute 2 minutes. Stir in spices and mix well. Cook 1 minute over medium high heat. Add peas, potatoes and mix again. Bring to a boil, cover pan and cook over medium heat 10 minutes. Stir in sauce, water and chickpeas.

- Cover again and cook until chickpeas and potatoes are heated through.
- Serve over rice or in Pita bread, with yogurt, fresh tomatoes and sliced cucumbers.
