Kolachy are delicate, sweet pastries filled with your favorite filling, featuring a tender buttery dough and a light powdered sugar dusting, perfect for gatherings or teatime treats.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 large package cream cheese
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 4 cups flour
  • powdered sugar
  • filling (your favorite)

Instructions

  1. Mix butter, cream cheese, and egg yolks until well combined.
  2. Gradually add flour and mix until the dough is smooth and well incorporated.
  3. Divide the dough into three equal portions.
  4. Roll each portion to 1/8-inch thickness.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into 1 1/2-inch squares.
  6. Place 1/2 teaspoon of filling in the center of each square.
  7. Fold opposite corners of the square together and squeeze to form a bow shape.
  8. Place the shaped kolachy on a cookie sheet.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven and cool.
  11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
