Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb ground lamb
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups catsup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • flour
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 6 to 8 medium potatoes, cubed

Instructions

  1. Combine ground lamb, egg, Worcestershire sauce, chopped onion, and bread crumbs in a bowl.
  2. Form into small patties about 1/2-inch thick.
  3. Roll the patties in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  4. Fry the patties slowly in an ungreased skillet until browned on both sides.
  5. Place the browned patties in the bottom of a casserole dish with a tight cover.
  6. Add chopped potatoes, sliced carrots, and chunks of small onions on top of the patties.
  7. Pour catsup over all the ingredients.
  8. Let simmer for a couple of hours, or bake in a 350°F oven for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  9. Optionally, substitute frozen mixed peas, carrots, and lima beans for fresh vegetables.
