Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • hot oil for deep frying
  • vegetables of your choice (zucchini sticks, onion rings, dandelion heads)

Instructions

  1. Mix together water and egg in a bowl.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add dry mixture into the water and egg mixture; beat with a fork until smooth.
  4. Dip vegetables into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Deep fry the coated vegetables in hot oil at 375° to 400° until lightly browned.
