Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tsp. parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1 qt. tomato juice
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded cabbage
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Brown the hamburger and onion in a large pot; drain off the fat.
  2. Add cornstarch and spices (parsley, mustard, oregano, chili powder, celery salt, garlic salt) to the meat mixture.
  3. Pour in the tomato juice and water; bring to a simmer and cook for 3 to 4 hours.
  4. Add shredded cabbage during the last hour of simmering.
  5. Serve hot, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
