Ingredients

  • pastry (enough to line and cover a deep dish)
  • 1 large fryer, boiled with salt and deboned
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 heaping Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Line a baking dish with pastry.
  2. Melt margarine in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add flour, salt, and black pepper; blend together.
  4. Add chicken broth and milk to create a thin gravy.
  5. Place boiled, deboned chicken, cut into pieces, into the pastry-lined dish.
  6. Cover the chicken with the prepared sauce.
  7. Cover with the top crust, sprinkle with black pepper, and dot with butter.
  8. Bake in a moderate oven until the crust is golden brown.
