Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and soda.
  3. Stir in sugar.
  4. Add sliced Crisco, butter, milk, vanilla, and eggs.
  5. Beat all ingredients at one time for 3 minutes.
  6. Scrape sides of the bowl and beat for 2 more minutes.
  7. Add chopped nuts and stir in well.
  8. Pour batter into a greased and floured baking pan.
  9. Bake for 1 hour and 5 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
