Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 6 c. plain flour
  • 2 sticks melted margarine

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. In a large bowl, mix shortening, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add boiling water and stir well.
  4. Add beaten eggs and stir well.
  5. Add flour and yeast mixture alternately to the shortening mixture and stir well.
  6. Cover the bowl with a towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough.
  8. Roll out on a floured board and knead.
  9. Melt margarine in two loaf pans.
  10. Shape dough into loaves and place in the pans.
  11. Let rise until the dough reaches the top of the pans.
  12. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
