Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/3 c. fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 8 frankfurter buns

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat together 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and minced garlic.
  2. Stir in onion soup mix, water, tomato sauce, sugar, and oregano.
  3. Gently boil the sauce, uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.
  4. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Shape the mixture into meatballs.
  6. Add the meatballs to the simmering sauce and cook until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  7. Slice the frankfurter buns and place meatballs with sauce inside each bun.
