Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • few grains pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons grated onions
  • 2 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 can peas
  • 4 carrots, cut in quarters
  • 4 to 8 small white onions
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Mix bread crumbs, milk, ground beef, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and grated onions to form small balls or patties.
  2. Roll the meatballs in flour and brown them on both sides.
  3. Add sliced potatoes, peas, carrots, small onions, water, salt, and pepper to the pot.
  4. Cook on low heat until all vegetables and meatballs are tender and flavors meld, about 45 minutes.
  5. Optional: Add corn or other vegetables during cooking for variation.
