Ingredients

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 3 1/4 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. cornstarch
  • 3 loaves frozen bread, defrosted
  • 1/3 to 1/2 stick soft butter or oleo
  • brown sugar
  • white sugar
  • cinnamon
  • raisins
  • ground nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to a suitable temperature (usually 350°F).
  2. Cream the butter and powdered sugar together until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour and cornstarch until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to desired thickness.
  5. Cut into shapes and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake until lightly golden around the edges.
  7. Optional: melt brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and ground nuts with soft butter or oleo to create toppings or fillings.
  8. Serve with a large candle on a round platter for presentation.
