Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter or oleo, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Sift flour with baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and salt into a bowl.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, molasses, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, beating slowly until incorporated.
  5. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before baking.
