Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup minced onion
  • 1/2 cup minced green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Butter a roasting pan. Mix beef, pork, onions, green peppers, garlic, eggs, cream and bread crumbs together in large mixing bowl. Season mixture with salt and pepper. Shape into a loaf and place on prepared pan. Pour broth over top and place in oven and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, basting occasionally.
  3. Remove pan from oven. Using long spatula, remove meat loaf from the pan. Place roasting pan on stove over high heat. In a small bowl, whisk flour with 2 tablespoons water. Whisk slurry into gravy. Bring liquid to boil and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Season gravy with salt and pepper.
  4. Slice meatloaf into 8 slices. Serve 2 slices per person with gravy.
