Ingredients

  • 6 slices white bread, cubed
  • 4 Tbsp. margarine, melted
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 2/3 cups scalded milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place bread cubes in a buttered 3-quart casserole dish.
  3. Pour melted margarine over bread cubes and toss to coat.
  4. In a large bowl, combine eggs, molasses, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Gradually stir in scalded milk and vanilla.
  6. Stir in golden raisins.
  7. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes in the dish.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until set.
  9. Serve warm, drizzled with heavy cream.
