Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the cooking oil, sugar, molasses, and egg by hand.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, ginger, cloves, and salt.
  4. Add the dry mixture to the molasses mixture and blend well.
  5. Stir in the chopped walnuts.
  6. Roll the dough into balls the size of a walnut and flatten them thin on a greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until crispy, approximately 10 minutes.
