  • 2 large cans whole tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. Tabasco pepper sauce
  • dash of cayenne
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using a mix of ground beef and ground pork. You can substitute the kidney beans with black beans or pinto beans for a different texture. If you prefer a milder chili, omit the cayenne and reduce the Tabasco sauce. Adding a tablespoon of brown sugar can balance the acidity of the tomatoes. This chili recipe can also be adapted as a One Pot Dinner (Slow Cooker).

Serving Suggestions

Serve your chili con carne with a side of cornbread or over a bed of rice for a complete meal. It pairs beautifully with Green Bean Casserole(Microwave For 18 Minutes.) for a comforting family dinner. Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or sliced jalapeños for added flavor and garnish.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover chili can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze it in portions for up to 3 months. To reheat, thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then warm on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water if necessary to loosen it up.
