Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa

Instructions

  1. In one bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix eggs, soda, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  3. In a saucepan, mix water, butter, and cocoa.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Mix together the dry ingredients, egg mixture, and hot mixture.
  6. Mix well until smooth.
  7. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
