Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg or ginger
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour, brown sugar, and shortening.
  2. Save 1 heaping cup of the mixture for topping.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients to the mixture.
  4. Mix well until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into a 9 x 12-inch pan.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved topping over the batter.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes.
