Ingredients

  • 4 cups mulberries
  • 1 cup honey or sugar
  • cinnamon
  • nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Pour mulberries into a greased 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish and pour honey or sugar over the berries.
  2. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten egg, milk, vegetable oil, and honey or brown sugar; blend well.
  4. Fold in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt, adding a small amount of milk if necessary to form a very soft dough.
  5. Spread the dough evenly over the berries in the baking dish.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 20 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
