Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk, scalded, then cooled
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
  • cinnamon sugar or sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add milk, sugar, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, eggs, shortening, and 2 cups of flour. Blend for 30 seconds on low, scraping the bowl constantly.
  3. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  4. Stir in the remaining flour until smooth, scraping the sides of the bowl.
