- Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit until foamy.
- In a mixing bowl, add warm milk, sugar, salt, and 2 cups of sifted flour. Beat until well blended.
- Stir in the sautéed onion, bacon, and garlic.
- Gradually add enough additional flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead the dough well and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes or until done.
