Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup self-rising meal
  • 1/3 cup self-rising flour

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/3 cup cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix self-rising meal, self-rising flour, egg, sugar, cooking oil, buttermilk, water, chopped onion, and grated Cheddar cheese in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Pour the batter into a well greased pan or muffin tins.
  3. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
