Flavorful onion egg rolls with a soft, buttery dough, perfect as an appetizer or snack. Crispy on the outside with savory onion filling inside, great for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast, lukewarm water, and sugar to activate the yeast.
  2. Combine milk, salt, butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to form the dough.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and roll each into a flat circle.
  6. Mix the egg yolk with a little milk and brush over the surface of each rolled dough.
  7. Sprinkle dried minced onion on top of the brushed dough.
  8. Brush again with the egg yolk-milk mixture to seal the onion.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
