Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups apples, grated
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg.
  2. Mix flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg together, then add to creamed mixture.
  3. Stir in vanilla, grated apples, and chopped nuts.
  4. Pour batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
  6. Serve warm, preferably with ice cream.
