Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 lb. chopped beef
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup diced pepper
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 can water
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 lb. cooked orzo

Instructions

  1. Saute and brown the shortening, chopped beef, chopped onion, and diced pepper.
  2. Drain excess fat from the mixture.
  3. Add cream of mushroom soup, water, crushed tomatoes, and minced garlic to the skillet.
  4. Mix well and transfer to a 2 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  5. Top with 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
