Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. catsup
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut the round steak into serving size pieces.
  3. Pour cooking oil into a skillet and brown each piece on both sides.
  4. Transfer the browned steaks to a roasting pan.
  5. Add chopped onion to the skillet and brown lightly.
  6. Combine vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, catsup, water, and prepared mustard to make the barbecue sauce, and simmer in the skillet for 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the barbecue sauce over the steaks in the roasting pan.
  8. Cover the pan with a lid or foil.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours or until the meat is fork-tender.
