- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cut the round steak into serving size pieces.
- Pour cooking oil into a skillet and brown each piece on both sides.
- Transfer the browned steaks to a roasting pan.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and brown lightly.
- Combine vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, catsup, water, and prepared mustard to make the barbecue sauce, and simmer in the skillet for 5 minutes.
- Pour the barbecue sauce over the steaks in the roasting pan.
- Cover the pan with a lid or foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours or until the meat is fork-tender.
