Ingredients

  • 3 lb. beef round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 3/4 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the meat into 6 to 8 serving pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet and brown the meat over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Transfer the browned meat to an ungreased casserole.
  4. In the same skillet, combine chopped onion, catsup, vinegar, water, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then pour over the meat in the casserole.
  6. Bake uncovered in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until the meat is tender.
