Oven Beef Soup

- In a 5-quart Dutch oven, over medium-high heat, cook half of the beef in hot oil until browned, stirring often.
- Remove the cooked beef and set aside. Repeat with the remaining beef.
- Spoon off excess fat from the Dutch oven.
- Return all beef to the Dutch oven.
- Add the condensed beef/mushroom soup, condensed golden mushroom soup, and water to the Dutch oven.
- Stir in crushed thyme, pepper, and add the bay leaf.
- Add cubed potatoes, carrot chunks, and celery to the soup.
- Bring to a boil, then cover and bake in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until vegetables and beef are tender.
