Tips & Substitutions
For added flavor, marinate the chicken and rabbit in olive oil, garlic, and herbs for a few hours before cooking. If you can't find mussels or clams, feel free to substitute with other shellfish or even chicken for a different twist. Adjust the saffron or turmeric based on your color preference; saffron gives a more authentic taste while turmeric is a budget-friendly alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use different types of seafood in paella?
Absolutely! Paella is versatile, and you can substitute with your favorite seafood like calamari or crab. Just ensure that the seafood is fresh, and adjust cooking times accordingly to prevent overcooking.
Is it necessary to use saffron in paella?
While saffron is traditional and adds a unique flavor and color, you can use turmeric as a more affordable substitute. The flavor will differ slightly, but the dish will still be delicious.
Can I make paella in advance?
You can prepare the ingredients ahead of time and assemble the paella just before serving. However, it's best enjoyed fresh as the rice texture can change upon reheating. If made in advance, reheat gently to avoid mushy rice.
