Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 (1 lb.) can fruit cocktail or peaches
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup nuts, broken (black walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Pour the batter into an ungreased tube pan.
  3. Bake for 1 to 1½ hours until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Do not invert the cake after baking.
