Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups thinly sliced fresh peaches
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/4 cup butter and sugar; beat well.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add 3/4 teaspoon almond extract; mix well.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Gradually add milk, mixing until smooth.
  6. Gently fold in sliced peaches and lemon juice.
  7. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  8. Prepare topping by mixing 1/2 cup butter and brown sugar until crumbly.
  9. Sprinkle topping over the batter.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
