Pear Bread Pudding

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Heat rum or rum extract and pour over raisins; set aside to soak.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a frypan; add peeled and sliced pears and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add 1/4 cup sugar to the pears, stir, and cook for 2 more minutes; then set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine coarsely torn bread, soaked raisins, cooked pears, sugar, vanilla, eggs, and milk.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until golden and set.
- Serve warm, optionally with a drizzle of cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
