Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole bran cereal, coarsely crushed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple flavored syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine the crushed whole bran cereal, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast in a bowl.
  2. Stir in warm water (110~ to 115~). Let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the egg, 1/2 cup of flour, cooking oil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Beat at low speed until blended.
  4. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  5. By hand, stir in the remaining flour.
  6. Knead the dough for 1 minute.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
