Pioneer Cornbread

- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Beat the egg in a bowl and add the milk.
- Melt the margarine in an iron skillet or baking pan.
- Combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt, and sift together.
- Add the dry ingredients to the egg-milk mixture and mix well.
- Add the melted margarine and mix thoroughly.
- Stir in honey or sugar, as desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes or until almost done.
- If done enough after 15 minutes, turn the cornbread over in the pan and finish baking until browned.
