Ingredients

  • whole fish
  • 1/2 cup Wesson oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1/4 cup shoyu
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • ginger, finely chopped
  • green onions, finely chopped
  • Chinese parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Place the whole fish into the boiling water; bring the water back to a boil.
  3. Turn off the burner, cover the pot, and let the fish stand for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should go through easily.
  5. Remove the fish from water and place on a platter.
  6. Garnish the fish with finely chopped ginger, green onions, and Chinese parsley.
  7. In a separate pan, sauté the Wesson oil, sesame oil, and chopped garlic until fragrant.
  8. Add shoyu, oyster sauce, and mirin to the sautéed oils and garlic.
  9. Bring the sauce to a boil, then pour over the fish before serving.
