Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Put raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, molasses, oil, and water in a pot and boil for 3 minutes.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the cooled mixture and mix well.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Serve plain or with lemon sauce, ice cream, or whipped cream.
