A hearty meat loaf coated with mashed potatoes and butter, offering comforting flavors perfect for family dinners or gatherings with savory, tender meat and creamy topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 lb. sausage
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • mashed potatoes
  • melted butter

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients, except potatoes and butter.
  2. Pack the mixture into a loaf pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  4. Let stand for 10 minutes after baking.
  5. Drain off excess liquid and turn the meat loaf onto an ovenproof platter.
  6. Spread mashed potatoes over the meat loaf and dot with melted butter.
  7. Heat in the oven for about 10 minutes before serving.
