Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 small pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • egg whites
  • raisins
  • brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix the sugar, flour, salt, and brown sugar together; set aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix the dry yeast, warm water, warm milk, and egg yolks.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients. Let stand in the refrigerator overnight.
  4. Roll out the dough thin, like pie crust.
  5. Spread on stiffly beaten egg whites, brown sugar, and raisins on half the dough.
  6. Fold over the dough and pinch the edges together.
  7. Cut small slits in the top of the pretzel.
  8. Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes.
