Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 can (15 oz.) pumpkin
  • confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, blend sugar and vegetable oil.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, salt, and ground cloves.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture alternately with the pumpkin, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 12-cup fluted tube pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 60 to 65 minutes.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.
  8. Cool completely and dust with confectioners sugar.
