Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 7 eggs
  • 2 oz red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups cooking oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cream together the sugar and cooking oil until well combined.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Alternately add the flour and milk to the mixture, beginning and ending with the flour.
  4. Stir in the cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Add the red food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased tube pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1 1/2 hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
