Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Butter a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt; mix well.
  4. Quickly add the sour cream, milk, eggs, and melted butter; mix until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool slightly, then cut into squares and serve.
