Ingredients

  • 2 lb. 80% lean ground beef
  • 3 (20 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 3 (20 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 4 to 6 Tbsp. ground chili pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 1/4 tsp. oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp. masa corn flour
  • 1/2 cup water or red wine

Instructions

  1. Cook diced onion in butter until soft and tender.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and water or wine.
  4. Stir in ground chili pepper, cumin, oregano, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to simmer for a few hours.
  6. Add rinsed kidney beans during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
