Ingredients

  • 5 lb. chicken wings, disjointed, discard tips
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. soy sauce
  • 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1-2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. Chinese Five Seasons spice powder
  • 2 star anise

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients except chicken into a medium saucepan and heat over low heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved.
  2. Arrange wings in a single layer in a large shallow baking pan.
  3. Pour sauce over wings and roast in a 350°F oven for 2 hours, turning wings after 1 hour.
  4. Serve hot. Can be made and reheated in the oven or crock-pot the next day.
