Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 pound dates
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Dissolve the soda in 1/2 cup hot water and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.
  4. Add the eggs and beat well.
  5. Stir in the dissolved soda mixture.
  6. Add the chopped dates, walnuts, cinnamon, and flour.
  7. Mix until well combined.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a greased baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
