Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed tomato soup
  • 2 cups uncooked rolled oats
  • 1 cup seedless raisins
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift dry ingredients, except oats, into a large bowl.
  3. Add shortening, egg, and condensed tomato soup to the dry mixture.
  4. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping sides and bottom of the bowl constantly.
  5. Stir in oats, raisins, and chopped walnuts.
