Russian Stroganoff

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 1 1/2 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1/2-inch pieces ⓘ
- 1 medium onion, chopped ⓘ
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped ⓘ
- 3 tsp. shortening ⓘ
- 3/4 c. water ⓘ
- 1/2 c. tomato sauce ⓘ
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. instant beef bouillon ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 4 drops red pepper sauce ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 c. dairy sour cream ⓘ
- hot cooked noodles ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix flour and salt; coat beef stew meat with flour mixture.
- Cook and stir onion and garlic in shortening in a 10-inch skillet until onion is tender.
- Remove onion and garlic from skillet.
- Cook and stir beef in the same skillet until browned.
- Stir in onion, garlic, water, tomato sauce, mushrooms, instant bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Heat to boiling; reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 hour.
- Stir in sour cream.
- Serve over hot cooked noodles.
