A hearty, flavorful sausage dish featuring sweet and hot sausage combined with peppers, onions, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. sweet sausage
  • 1 lb. hot sausage
  • 3 large onions
  • 5 bell peppers
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce or homemade
  • 1 small package mozzarella cheese
  • margarine
  • sprinkle of Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut peppers and onions into long strips.
  2. Boil sausage until almost done.
  3. Saute peppers and onions in margarine; set aside.
  4. In a large pot, warm the spaghetti sauce.
  5. Cut sausage into bite-sized pieces and add to the sauce.
  6. Add the sautéed peppers and onions to the sauce.
  7. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  8. Cut mozzarella cheese into thin, small strips.
  9. Add the cheese to the sausage mixture and cook for 1 minute.
  10. Serve and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
